Duration: Temporary, through end of January, 2025

Pay: $24.00 + / hour

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am 5:00 pm

Position Summary:

The Verification Clerk works directly with individuals checking in for court appearances or arraignments, assisting with the court-appointed attorney application process. This role is responsible for verifying the accuracy of application information, determining eligibility for court-appointed counsel based on income guidelines, and supporting the Criminal Department by receipting payments and responding to customer inquiries. The position also provides backup to other clerks and assists the Traffic and Violation Unit as needed. We are seeking highly skilled and qualified candidates who can excel in this critical role and ensure accuracy, efficiency, and empathy when interacting with individuals during sensitive and time-critical processes.

Job Description:

• Assist individuals with the court-appointed attorney application process
• Verify application information and determine eligibility for counsel based on State of Oregon guidelines
• Make informed recommendations to the court regarding counsel appointments
• Resolve attorney appointment conflicts promptly to prevent case processing delays
• Support the Criminal Department by receipting fines, fees, and other payments
• Answer inquiries regarding payments and balances in criminal and traffic cases
• Provide backup support to other clerks and act as the primary backup for the Traffic and Violation Unit

Requirements:

• Extensive office and administrative experience in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service with empathy and professionalism
• Ability to manage high-volume phone calls, emails, and walk-in traffic
• Strong data entry skills with a track record of high accuracy
• Experience working with diverse populations and varying socioeconomic statuses
• Superior multitasking, time management, and prioritization skills
• Team player with a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and tasks
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired but not required
